On Wednesday, 19 October the Matric award winners and their parents attended their final prizegiving, a wonderful culmination of their hard work over past five years. The prizegiving ceremony enables us to acknowledge and celebrate our learners’ success and development. The stage was laden with the usual trophies, shields, certificates, book prizes and bursaries, which are tangible signs of the perseverance, commitment, and achievements of the Grade 12s. Our special guest, Dr Kate Angier, offered words of encouragement and wisdom to the Matrics before handing out the Subject Distinction Certificates and Book Prizes, and congratulating each prize winner individually.
Drew Dickson-Hall, the winner of the award for the most promising Grade 12 vocalist, treated the audience to her cover of ‘Breakaway’ in the musical interlude before the Special Awards were awarded to well-deserving Grade 12 learners. The afternoon was a wonderful way to celebrate the class of 2022, their school career, and their achievements with the staff, their peers, and their parents and guardians.
