On Wednesday, 18 October the Matric award winners and their parents attended their final prize-giving, which was a wonderful culmination of their hard work over the past five years. The prize-giving ceremony enabled us to acknowledge and celebrate our learners’ success and development. The stage was adorned with the usual trophies, shields, certificates, book prizes, and bursaries, which are tangible signs of the perseverance, commitment, and achievements of the Grade 12s. Our special guest, Dr. X Guzula (School of Education, University of Cape Town) offered words of encouragement and wisdom to the Matrics before handing out the Subject Distinction Certificates and Book Prizes, and congratulating each prize winner individually.
Sahara Khan, the winner of the ‘Norris Cup’ for music performance, treated the audience to her cover of ‘Skyfall’ (Adele & Paul Epworth) before the Special Awards were presented to well-deserving Grade 12 learners. The afternoon was a wonderful way to celebrate the class of 2023, their school career, and their achievements with the staff, their peers, and their parents and guardians.
