It was a night to remember as it transported attendees back to the glitzy and glamorous era of the 1920s Jazz Lounge. The event featured remarkable performances, heartfelt tributes, and great entertainment. One of the highlights of the evening was undoubtedly the stunning performance by the talented Bernadetta Kabou-Block. With her soulful and enchanting voice, she transported the audience to the heart of the Jazz Age. Bernie is a WGHS and Protea House alumnus, and it was wonderful to welcome her back to her alma mater. A truly special moment was the impromptu duet with Lunabile Veto accompanying Bernie on the piano for a stunning rendition of “If I ain’t got you” by Alicia Keys.
The Grade 11 boarders were our hosts for the evening, and not only transformed the school hall into a glitzy venue, but ensured that the evening ran smoothly. Meanwhile, the Grade 10 boarders served as waiters, providing impeccable service and bringing our delicious three course meal (courtesy of Feedem) to us with broad smiles.
Mihlali and her crew wowed us with some spectacular dancing, showcasing their impressive talent. Inam delivered a touching spoken word tribute to the matric students. Ashanti and her team brought laughter and joy to the event with a playful video in which they expertly imitated the matrics. A memorable moment of the evening was the presentation of “Most Likely To…” certificates to each Grade 12 boarder. These certificates celebrated their individuality and contributions to the Protea House community.
Thank you to everyone who made this such a memorable and beautiful evening!
